Why ETH Is Rising – Just Got Better: Pectra Update Explained

Ethereum updated to Pectra on May 7, 2025.

Your wallet gets easier to use, and fees for transactions drop. Plus, staking ETH is now simpler for everyone.
This update makes Ethereum faster and cheaper to use—perfect for buying NFTs or trading on apps. It also attracts more big investors to stake ETH, which can push the price up. ETH might hit $5700–$8400 by the end of 2025. So, this is good news

Pectra adds smart features to wallets (EIP-7702), letting you pay fees with tokens like USDC, not just ETH, or recover your wallet easier. Staking limits jumped from 32 ETH to 2048 ETH (EIP-7251), so big players can stake more with less hassle—this means fewer validators are needed, cutting costs and making the network more efficient. It also doubles data capacity for Layer 2 apps (EIP-7691), cutting fees by up to 50%. This helps Layer 2 projects like Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, StarkNet, and zkSync by lowering their costs to post data to Ethereum, boosting their speed and scalability. Layer 3 projects like Arbitrum Orbit and Orbs also benefit by building on these faster, cheaper Layer 2s. Validator deposits now process in 13 minutes, not 9 hours (EIP-6110). These upgrades make Ethereum smoother and more efficient, boosting its growth potential.
